The is the brand essence video I shot and edited for the Detroit Historical Society. The challenge was to make a series of still images compelling. I achieved this by adding subtle yet effective effects to the stills. Going beyond the typical “Ken Burns” effect some images are parallaxed, so the foreground and background are separate to give the illusion of depth. Other scenes were enhanced with flickering or shimmering, to simulate old film or looking at a physical print in the light. A year after editing this piece, I cut it down to a :30 for air.
